John Green, 73 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls with his loving family by his side.

The service to celebrate John's life will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at First Lutheran Cemetery in Middle River, MN.

John Henry Green was born May 17, 1949 in Crookston, MN the son of Elmer E. and Irene (Sterger) Green. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He attended school in Thief River Falls.

In the late 1960's, John was united in marriage to Marlis Johnson and to this union, Johnnie Green Jr. and Debbie were born. The couple later divorced.

In 1975, John was united in marriage to Ranae Klinke in Thief River Falls and to this union three sons were born, Chad, Chris and Brian. John cherished his three boys immensely! They were his life!

Following school, he worked numerous jobs including Falls Concrete, City of Thief River Falls, Future Fuels and retired from Arctic Cat in 2012.

John enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, drinking beer & whiskey 7's, and hanging out with friends. John was known to tell it like it is and didn't sugar coat anything! His proudest milestone in his life was when he quit drinking and smoking cold turkey about 12 years ago.

Survivors include children, Chris (Nicole Nogues) Green of Surprise, AZ, Brian (Trisha Kostrzewski) Green of Thief River Falls, Johnnie Green of Brooks, MN and Debbie Copeland of Thief River Falls; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Green, and sisters Clara Nelson, Lois Erickson, and Laurie Wilson all of Thief River Falls.  Half-sister Marlene Joliff; aunt Linda Brule and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his son, Chad; parents, Elmer Sr and Irene; sisters, Marylou and Joy Lynn; brothers Daniel, Henry, and Charles; half-brothers William and Elmer Jr. and other relatives.
