John Jack W. Grindeland, 67, died on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Mel Sich officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Tuesday evening and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
John Wayne Grindeland was born on May 18, 1935 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Clarence and Gertrude (OHara) Grindeland. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended Elementary School and High School in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1953. While he was in High School he worked for Schlecters Paint Store. Jack entered the Unites States Army in 1953 and was Honorably Discharged on August 13, 1964. Following his discharge he returned to Thief River Falls and continued working for Schleters for some time. Jack also worked for Arctic and did custom combining until his retirement.
Jack enjoyed woodworking, painting and crafts. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Jack and Sharon were the parents of five children and they survive: Kristine Grindeland of Goodridge, MN, Chad Grindeland of Thief River Falls, MN, Darcy Rozowski of Thief River Falls, MN, Toni (Kenny) Larsen of Breckenridge, MN and Jackie Grindeland of Thief River Falls, MN; 14 grandchildren; two brothers: Glenn (Joan) Grindeland of Burnsville, MN and Thales Babe (Paulette) Grindeland of Thief River Falls, MN; and two sisters: Patricia Pat Eide of Mesa, AZ and Terese Armstrong of Goodridge, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in dearth by his mother, Gertrude, on June 13, 1996 and his dad, Clarence, on August 3, 2000.
