John Hiebert, Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN at the age of 83.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Evangelical Free Church, 211 Arnold Avenue North, Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Kevin MacLean officiating.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the church.

John Hiebert was born June 26, 1938, at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the son of David and Margaret F. (Kehler) Hiebert.  He grew up on a farm south of Winnipeg and attended a one room school.  He stayed at home after finishing school and helped on the farm.  At the age of 18, John moved to Winnipeg, where he attended an electrical trade school, MIT, for 4 years. He became an electrical journeyman and worked electrical construction.  He moved to Iowa in January of 1967.

On August 30, 1958, John was united in marriage to Leona Verna Patzer.  To this union 5 children were born.  He moved to Illinois, Wyoming and North Dakota, where he continued his career as journeyman.

In 1987, John retired on disability and in April of 1998, moved to Thief River Falls, MN, to relocate after the flood in Grand Forks.

He was an active member of Evangelical Free Church where he enjoyed the weekly men's Bible study. He enjoyed wood crafting and was a volunteer at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

John is survived by his children, Katherine (Jerome) Froio, Arizona, Barbara Hiebert, Florida, Cynthia (Andrew) Marczuk, Illinois, Roxanne (Neil) Sullivan, Illinois, Daniel John, Manitoba, and John Paul, Iowa; sisters, Ann Doerkson, British Columbia, and Helen (Pete) Dyck, Manitoba; brother David (Carol), Manitoba, Canada.  John also had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret, and brothers Ben (Lena) and Peter (June still living).
