John Konickson, 66, died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Service of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with MSGR. Timothy McGee Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Bernards Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 30, 2007 from 5 " 7 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls with a 7:00 PM prayer service and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

John Alvin Konickson was born October 5, 1940, in Thief River Falls, MN, to Alvin & Olga (Johnson) Konickson. He was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church and confirmed at Clearwater Lutheran Church. He attended high school in Thief River Falls and the AVTI where he completed programs in electronics and auto mechanics.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1960. Following his discharge he returned to the family farm near Plummer and grew small grain and raised beef cattle until his retirement.

On December 15, 1973, John was united in marriage to Leona Knutson at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. The couple made their home on the family farm where they have since resided.

John was a member of the American Legion and Eagles. He loved the outdoors and especially liked to hunt, fish, and spend time at the cabin. John also enjoyed bird feeding and watching, taking drives to explore nature and visit family and friends, listen to music and spend time with grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife Leona, Plummer, MN; stepdaughter LaNette (Danny) Osbjornson, Glyndon, MN, son Terry (special friend Kim Kroll) of White Bear Lake, MN, and daughter Tracy (special friend Brian Meckler) of Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Zachary, Ashley, and Jacob Osbjornson; Kourtney and Kalie Konickson; and his mother, Olga Konickson of Erskine, MN.

He was preceded in death by his father Alvin Konickson.

Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN.
