John Kuiper, 94, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Friday, April 27, 2001 at his home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at 2:00 PM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake Falls.

Visitation will be held on Monday 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

John Kuiper was born March 5, 1907 in Parkersburg, Iowa son of the late Harm and Marie (Stubbe) Kuiper. In 1909 he moved with his family to Southern Minnesota, the Comfrey area where he started school. In 1917 the family moved to Mayfield Township, Pennington County near Plummer, MN where the family farmed. On February 3, 1931 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Duffy at St. Marys Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. They lived in various areas of Red Lake County until December of 1940 at which time they moved to their present home in Red Lake Falls.
From 1939 to 1944 John worked for the Smith Paper Company of Red Lake Falls, 1944 he leased the Mobil Service Station and operated it until 1948. From 1948 to 1954 he worked as a mechanic for George Thibert at Thibert Chevrolet and Buick. In 1954 he purchased Johns mileage service where he continued until he sold the business and retired in 1972. He than began working for the Petterson Funeral Home and worked there until 1995. John also worked as an on call police officer for Red Lake Falls for several years.
John was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, served on the board of directors for the Credit Union in Red Lake Falls, was a member of the Sheriffs Association in Minnesota and a Ducks Unlimited member for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing and was always up for a game of cards.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Kuiper of Red Lake Falls, MN: daughter Marion Doyle (William) of Apple Valley, MN; three sons Ted Kuiper (Rosie) of Belton, MO, Gary Kuiper (Joanne) of Gambrills, MD and Tim Kuiper (Jane) of Mankato, MN. 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren: four sisters Helen Denzine of St. Paul, MN, Anna Books of St. Paul, MN, Jeannie Hathaway of Mounds View, MN and Rickie Olien of Roseville, MN: brothers Albert Kuiper (Irene) of Jeffers, MN and George Kuiper of Weyburn Saskatchewan, Canada: many nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Ted Kuiper, Herman Kuiper and Ben Kuiper: sister Marie Olson and an infant sister.
