John Peterson, 58, of Thief River Falls, MN, died on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at his home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls with Reverend Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.

John Edward Peterson was born October 2, 1952, son of the late Walter and Mabel (Jensen) Peterson in Thief River Falls, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at and has been a life long member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. John lived with his parents until the time of their deaths and has been in foster care since that time. Throughout his many years of foster care there have been many special caregivers that have touched him in so many ways, including Ken and Pat Beauchane, many staff members at Johnson's Riverside homes, and at Edgewood Group Home. His life was also enriched by the staff and his many friends at the Falls Day Activity Center, which he attended regularly for much of his life. For many years he was an ardent football fan, always keeping track of the scores with his note pad. While he was still able, he also enjoyed going to church; he knew the words to many favorite hymns and always sang with enthusiasm.

He is survived by his brother Paul (Joanne) Peterson of Shoreview, MN; favorite brother-in-law Jerry Beamer; nieces and nephews Kris, Gretchen, Anne, Erik and Mike. John is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shirley Beamer, and many aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Falls DAC.
