John Sikorski, 91, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at his home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11 AM at St. Bernards Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery, Greenbush, MN.
Visitation will be 5 PM until 8 PM, Friday, February 5, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7 PM.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
John Alexander Sikorski was born February 8, 1919 to Adam and Wanda Sikorski in Greenbush, MN. His mother passed away when he was 11 years old and he was raised by his older sisters and Dad. He graduated from Greenbush High School in 1936. He entered WW II, in the Army, in February, 1940. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
John was united in marriage to Marie Dostal, April 29, 1944. John and Marie farmed in Juneberry Township for 25 years. The retired to a hobby farm in the Thief River Falls area in 1978. Marie passed away on April 13, 1994.
John enjoyed hunting, dancing, playing cards and visiting with his family. He was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the VFW and Legion.
He is survived by Ruby Anderson, his special friend; Sons, LeRoy (May) of Hamilton, MT, Richard (Yvonne) of Greenbush, MN; Rodney (Carol) of Greenbush; Daughters, Karen (Don) Dyrdahl of Fosston, MN, Rita (Kim) Anderson of Fosston, MN and Carol (Don) Louwagie of Marshall, MN; 2 Sisters, Amelia and Irene; also many Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
