John Sorenson, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

A Memorial Service to honor John's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor George Davis officiating.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the memorial service on Thursday at the funeral home.

John Neil Sorenson was born on February 17, 1962 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son Norman and Eunice (Hjelle) Sorenson.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  John attended school at Northrup Elementary School, Franklin Middle School, and Lincoln High School – all in Thief River Falls.

On July 11, 1980 John was married to DeDe Rood in Holt, MN.  To this union two sons were born – Jami Howard Sorenson and Matthew Sorenson.

John was employed Arctic Cat, various trucking jobs, Brooks Farm Supply, CHS, and Uncle Ben's Rice Company.

John enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, working on his cars, and his dogs.

John will be remembered for his contagious laugh and big heart.  He was always helping someone.

John is survived by his sons, Jami Sorenson of Thief River Falls, MN, and Matthew (Clarice) Sorenson of Bemidji, MN; special grandchildren, Bruce Johnson, Breanna Johnson, and Justice White; siblings, Margie (Robert) Rendulich of Thief River Falls, MN, Mary (Robert) Madden of International Falls, MN, David (Christy) Sorenson of Thief River Falls, MN; mother of his children, DeDe Rood of Thief River Falls, MN; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; his special friend, Judy Black of Thief River Falls, MN; and his ex-wife, Kelly Gregory of Aneta, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts and uncles.
