Johnny Plante Brooks, MN, died on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, February 4, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and also one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Chuck Huck presiding. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Brooks. Johnny Julius Plante was born August 23, 1948 son of Frank and Myrtle (Charbonneau) Plante at Fosston, MN. He was raised and attended school in Oklee. Johnny worked at the mink ranch near Brooks. On October 7, 1971 Johnny was united in marriage to Dianne Bommer at Erskine, MN. The couple made their home in the Brooks area. Johnny worked 38 years for American Crystal retiring in 2011. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, tinkering on motors and gardening. He liked being a dad to the town kids. Johnny is survived by his wife Dianne Plante of Brooks, MN; two children Peggy (Jamie) Sauve of Red Lake Falls, MN and Tony (Heather) Plante of Leonard, ND: grandchildren Casey, Kylee, Gavin and Macey: his dog Leo; brothers and sisters Carol Rodreguez of Texas; Sarah (Richard) Hanson of Clearbrook, MN; Judy Olson of Red Lake Falls, MN; Lois Plante of Winger, MN and Robert Plante of Crookston, MN; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
