Jon Metusalem, 83, died Friday, January 14, 2005 at his home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Jon Metusalem was born May 22, 1921 in Reykjavik, Iceland. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. Jon moved from Iceland in 1944 to attend the University of Minnesota. He graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. Following college he taught Agriculture in Goodridge, Minneota and Thief River Falls. On July 17, 1952, Jon was united in marriage to Catherine Feller Anderson in Minneota, MN. The couple lived in Minneota until 1954, when they moved to Thief River Falls. In 1963 he started his own business, Thief River Realty, which he owned and operated until his retirement in the late 1990s.
Jon was instrumental in the idea and actual building of the Heritage Center in Thief River Falls. He served on the Board and as President and was very involved in all aspects, helping anyway he could at the Heritage Center. He was very active in Republican politics, enjoyed his work with Northern State Bank and loved visiting Ingo and Jennifer in Palm Springs, in the last winters. Jon was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Jon is survived by children; Mary Lou Anderson, Sausalito, CA, Mark Jon (Barbara), Sylvania, OH and Marcia (Michael) Beloved, Guyana, South America; five grandchildren: Sara and Ross Metusalem, Priyah, Bhakti and Draupadi Beloved; and one brother, Ingo (Jennifer) Metusalem of Palm Springs, CA.
He was preceded in death by wife, Catherine, December 6, 1996; and his parents.
