Jon Jeffrey Stimac was born November 21, 1962 at Minneapolis, MN, the son of Richard and Bev (Walker) Stimac. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crosby, MN. He attended elementary school in Crosby until the 7th grade and graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, MN in 1981. After high school he worked at Hartz Foods in Thief River Falls.
Jon enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1983. He served overseas in England, McCord Air Force Base, near Seattle, WA and Hanscom Air Force Base near Boston, MA. He received his honorable discharge in May of 1988. After military service, Jon lived in various places including Colorado, Texas and Florida, then, prior to his 10 year reunion in 1991, Jon made his home in Thief River Falls. He went to work for Steve Nordhagen at Less Sanitation, Thief River Falls, in 1995 and has worked there ever since.
He loved ice fishing, hunting, and being in the outdoors; he was the family provider for fresh walleye and venison. He grew up playing sports, including baseball, hockey and football. He especially enjoyed hanging out with family and friends and would do anything for them. Jon had a knack to make you laugh and could turn any negative situation into a positive one!
Jon is survived by parents: Bev (Howard) Watkins, Thornton, CO and Richard Stimac, Golden, CO; brother: Rick Stimac, Merrifield, MN; sister: Sheryl (Dan) Howerton, Golden, CO and brother: David (Christy) Stimac, Alamogordo, NM and one niece on the way.
