Jorgen Knutson, 77, died Thursday, February 20, 2003 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday February 24, 2003 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, MN, with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Burial will be at East Walle Cemetery, Thompson, ND.

Visitation will be 4 " 7 PM, Sunday, February 23, 2003 at Johnson Funeral Home, Red Lake Falls, MN with a 6:30 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Jorgen Knutson was born March 20, 1925 at Plaza, ND, the son of Knute and Tildy (Helle) Knutson. The family moved to Thompson, ND, when Jorgen was a young man.

In 1943, Jorgen was united in marriage to Alice Miller. He served in the Korean War from 1945-1946. He moved to Red Lake Falls, MN in 1948 and in 1955, he married Veone Schalz. The couple lived on the farm south of Red Lake Falls until 1984 when he moved to a farm in Plummer, MN. Later he moved back to Red Lake Falls, MN. He was a full time farmer in the Red Lake Falls area. In the early years he worked at Thiberts Chevrolet and Detroiter, Red Lake Falls. Jorgen lived in the Anda Apartments, Fairview Manor, Hillcrest Nursing Home, all Red Lake Falls and the Pioneer Memorial Home, Erskine, MN.

Jorgen was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and served on the church Council. He also held membership with Minnesota Wheat Growers and was Past President. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Posts in Red Lake Falls and was on the Satasdahl Committee. He loved farming, touring the countryside, playing cards, horseback riding and especially loved spending time with family and friends.

Survived by sons, Jorgen (Faith), Rolette, ND, Dale (Mary), Red Lake Falls, MN, Harvey, Brush, CO and Knute (Sue), Red Lake Falls, MN; daughters, Arlene Kheir, Minneapolis, MN, Valorie (Clyde) Fering, Red Lake Falls, MN and VeAnn (Tom) Myers, New Port Richey, FL; step children, Van (Carol) Odegaard, Flagstaff, AZ and Dianne (Ray) Nelson, International Falls, MN; grandchildren, Mariah Conner, Vanessa, Micala, Tracy, Tanya, Jeremy and Tiffany Knutson, Tammer Kheir, Jason and Chuck Knutson, Charity Marcotte, Casey, Lindsey, Chelsey and Jaclyn Fering, Matt and Nick Knutson, Shannah and Crystal Guenthner; step grandchildren, Charlie, Victoria, Tammy and Nick Odegaard, Cindy Brokaw, Candy Hasiuk and Mike Nelson; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Kermit Knutson, Red Lake Falls, MN; sisters, Delores, Longtin, Oklee, MN and Dorothy Farden, Virginia, MN.

Preceded in death by wife, Veone in December, 1972; an infant son, Richard; sisters, Inga Hanson, Alice Sylvester and Elvina Smith; brothers Helmer and Halvor Knutson.
