Joseph Anthony Juneau was born December 12, 1919 at Terrebonne, MN, the son of Alcime and Georgeanna (LaFevvre) Juneau Sr. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony Catholic Church at Terrebonne. He grew up and attended school in Terrebonne. He was employed at Smith Paper Mill in Red Lake Falls and farmed until he entered the United States Navy, where he served from June 8, 1942 to December 14, 1945.
In 1947, Joseph was united in marriage to Christine Kastelac. He worked in Duluth, MN for a short time. He also worked at American Crystal Sugar, Crookston, MN from 1953-1967. In the fall of 1967, Joseph worked at Arctic Cat, Thief River Falls, for a few years. He farmed his whole life in the Terrebonne area.
Joseph enjoyed farming, fishing and reading. He was a member of the American Legion at Crookston and Red Lake Falls. He also held membership with the Eagles and VFW both in Thief River Falls.
Survivors include son, Dan (Rhonda Schnacky), Red Lake Falls, MN; 4 grandchildren, Christi, Sarah Chaja de Naxi, John and Valerie Chaja; a great granddaughter, Akira Naxi Chaja; sisters, Clara Tessier, Downey, CA and Rose Juneau, Red Lake Falls, MN.
Preceded in death by wife, Christine in 1980; parents; brother and sisters, Dorothy, Mathilda, Isadore, Alcime Jr., Edward and John Juneau.
