Joseph Willett of Oklee, MN, age 88, died on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND with his loving family at his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Bill DeCrans presiding. Burial will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Plummer, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Friday. Joseph Arnold Willett was born on July 12, 1927 at Crookston, MN to Benjamin and Barbara (Wagner) Willett, the youngest of eight children. He was raised in Plummer, MN where he attended school. He enlisted in the United States Navy on June 6, 1945 and served with the Seabees and spent time in New Guinea. Joe was Honorably Discharged on June 28, 1946. On June 17, 1948 he was united in marriage to Teckla Williams at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. To this union 8 children were born, James, Joyce, Elizabeth, Susan, Arnold, Thomas, Daniel and Douglas. In the earlier years, he milked cows and farmed on the farm they bought just out of Plummer. He then worked road construction operating heavy equipment until he became a bulk truck driver, picking up milk for Plummer Creamery from which he retired. After his retirement, he had the opportunity to work with heavy equipment for Bob Pahlen, Plummer Excavating and Tom Radniecki. Joe's greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his constant companion "Prince" his little dog. He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. Joe was a member of the Plummer American Legion Post #623 for over 47 years, VFW Post 2793, and the Plummer Lions Club. Joe is survived by 7 children, daughters, Joyce (Carl) Magers of Spring Grove, MN, Elizabeth Hamilton of Bloomington, MN, Sue (Gary) LaCoursiere of Brooks, MN; sons, Arne (Jo Boldt) Willett of Clearbrook, MN, Tom (Bec) Willett of Plummer, MN, Dan Willett of Plummer, MN and Doug Willett of Red Lake Falls, MN; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Rita LeMere of Eau Claire, WI; and many nieces and nephews; and his special friend and neighbor, Beverly Linder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Teckla on March 19, 2008; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Judy Willett; father, Frank; mother, Barbara; brother-in-law, Lionel MeMere; sisters and brothers-in-law, Monica and Joe Fallon, Marcella and Frank Toulouse, Constance and Daniel Driscoll, Delores Carlson, Marietta and Clem Johanneck and brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Gert Willett; and some nieces and nephews.
