Josephine Bendel, 85, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Sunday January 23, 2000 at her home in Red Lake Falls. Arrangements with Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2000 at 11:00 AM in St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Curtis Brooks Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Red Lake Falls in the spring.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday only.

Agnes Josephine Bendel was born May 10, 1914 in Douglas, WY daughter of the late Nickolas E. and Agnes Cecelia (Anderson) Berg. She lived in Lovell, WY with her family until the age of 9 when they moved to Fosston, MN where she was raised and attended School graduating from the Fosston high School. She attended Lee Cosmetology School in Minneapolis, MN. In 1940 she moved to Red Lake Falls where she opened a beauty shop. On December 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Leo Bendel in Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple lived in Red Lake Falls where she worked until her retirement in March of 1989.
Josephine was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 52 years.
Josephine is survived by her husband Leo in Red Lake Falls, MN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Rudolph Berg.
