Joyce Elnora Austad, 62, of Phoenix, AZ, died Monday, February 16, 2009 in Hillsboro, OR, in a hospice home after battling pancreatic cancer.

Memorial service will be 2 PM, Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Silver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Joyce Elnora Boman was born May 8, 1946 in Grand Forks, ND to Charles Wallace and Violet (Swenson) Boman. She grew up at Thief River Falls, near Silver Creek. She attended school and graduated from Lincoln High School. She also attended the Vo-Tech.

She worked for many years as secretary and receptionist at Lincoln High School and at AVTI until 1988, when she moved to Phoenix.

She worked as a secretary and accounts payable in Phoenix. She also lived in Texas for a couple of years before returning to Phoenix.

Joyce was avid at sewing, crocheting and knitting. She made clothing, quilts and doll clothing. She crocheted many table cloths, dollies, baby clothes and sweaters. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. Joyce was an avid traveler.

She is survived y 4 children: Troy (Alice) Austad, Rory Austad, Kellie (Ric) Decker and Kari (Jarrod) Wilde; 3 brothers, Brian (Myrna) Boman and Paul and Arnold Boman; 12 grandchildren: Joshua, Jesika, Izak, Hanah-Joy, Lydia-Grace, Rachel, Katie, Michael, Ashlie, Brandon, Luke and Hailey; a great grandson, Nathan.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents.
