Joyce Gervais of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 2013 with her loving family at her side in Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Chuck Huck Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 5 - 8 pm with a 7:00 PM prayer service at St Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Fall and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Joyce Lorraine Gervais was born November 5, 1934 at her home in Plummer MN, delivered by their neighbor. Joyce was the third of five children born to late Urho and Marion (Berg) Hill. She attended grade school in Plummer and graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in the Class of 1953. On February 15, 1955 she was united in marriage to Albert Gervais Jr. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN. The couple lived in South Milwaukee for a short time then made their home in Red Lake Falls where they have since resided. Joyce worked various jobs thru her life including the Co-op store, Memories Café, Northwood Group home and many of her years as the Head Cook at St, Josephs Catholic School. However the job she loved the most was being a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting, crocheting, fishing, playing smear with her friends, baking and cooking. She was known for making the best buns in the world. Most of all she loved the time spent with her family especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her four-legged friend Duchess. Over the years she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and guild, Catholic Daughters, and the Legion Auxiliary. Joyce is survived by her husband of 58 years, Albert Gervais Jr. of Red Lake Falls, MN; children Cheryl (Mike) Seeger of Red Lake Falls, MN, Diane (Greg) Johnson of St. Hilaire, MN, Greg (Theresa) Gervais of Red Lake Falls, MN, Mark (Peggy) Gervais of Red Lake Falls, MN: grandchildren Tania (Matt) Waldal, Matthew Wilson, Bryce Wilson, Sarah (Jason) Blake, Anne (Ryan) Archer, Nick (Julie) Seeger, Jacob (Amber) Johnson, Tyler (Angie Noreen fiancé ) Johnson, Guy Johnson, Justin (Lisa) Johnson, Anthony (Jenny) Knott, Brianna (Eric LaPlante special friend) Gervais, Jordon (Kelsey) Gervais, Channing Sandberg, Jayde Sandberg: great-grandchildren Cody, Madilyn, Gavin, Judd, Loren, Jackson, Bella, Brooks, Knox, Mya, Brock, Ava, Alexis, Cole, Adalyn, Wyatt, Michaya, Logen, Blake, Lily, Chase, Zoey: Brothers Arnold (Irene) Hill of Dilworth, MN; Leonard (Myrna) Hill of Sun City, CA, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Yvonne Blokzal and Jean Harbott. Joyce was 78 years; 11 months and 9 days may her memory be blessed.
