Joyce Iverson of Thief River Falls, MN, 76, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, with her loving family by her side. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1:00PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Greg Schram officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Joyce Marie Bruggeman was born on March 11, 1937 the daughter of Frank A. and Zoe J. (Derocher) Bruggeman in Plummer, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Plummer. She attended country school and graduated from Oklee High School in 1955. Joyce moved to Milwaukee, WI and attended school for airline services. She then moved to Minneapolis, MN where she lived for a short time before returning to live in Thief River Falls. Joyce worked at Narverud Cleaners in Thief River Falls where she met her future husband, Elling Iverson. On September 10, 1959, Joyce took Elling Iverson's hand in marriage. To this union four children were born, Peter, Karen, Scott, and Keith. Joyce stayed home while her children were growing. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls where she was active in Ladies Circle. Most recently, Joyce was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Joyce enjoyed reading, collecting lighthouses, watching mysteries on TV, traveling and seeing different scenery, going to local plays, dining out, volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, volunteering at the local food shelf and most important spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her four children: Peter (Emily) Iverson, Philippines, Karen (Chris) Jenson, Thief River Falls, MN, Scott (Peggy) Iverson, Burnsville, MN, and Keith Iverson, Thief River Falls, MN; six grandchildren: Joylyn (Roel) Dumadag, Dane Jenson, Bailey Iverson, Becky (Terry) Stavenes, Stacy (Roy) Thomsen, Tiffany Kleven; five great grandchildren: Kamila Dumadag, Erin Keisow, Ayla Thomsen, Austin and Brooke Stavenes; one brother, Larry (Vi) Bruggeman, Brooks, MN; sister, Audrey Lee, Kent, WA; sisters in law, Clare Bruggeman, Thief River Falls, MN, Vivian Bruggeman, St. Hilaire, MN, Joyce "Dolly" (John) Boice, Portola Valley, CA; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Elling on March 27, 2012; parents; sister, Dorothy Olson; and brothers, Lloyde (Ruby) Bruggeman, Eugene Bruggeman, and Richard Bruggeman.
