Obituary

Joyce Larson, 85 of Thief River Falls, MN passed into Glory on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

The Memorial Service will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Jeffrey Merseth officiating. Burial at Clearwater Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN.

Joyce Lucille Fore was born September 12, 1934 on the family farm in Equality Township, Red Lake County, Oklee, MN the daughter of Alvin and Gladys (Fossum) Fore. She was baptized and confirmed in Clearwater Lutheran Church, Oklee, attended and graduated from Oklee High School.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Alvin Fore; her husbands, Charles Acker and Eldon Larson, her son, Michael Acker, and her youngest sister, Judy Johnson.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Susan (Max) Wade of North Pole, Alaska, her son, Nathan (Brenda) Acker of Roseau, MN, 3 stepsons, Charles (Carolyn Haugen) Larson, William Larson, Dan (Marge) Larson all of Thief River Falls, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren with 2 on the way, her sister, Barbara (Ray) Swenson of Oklee; her brother, Arlan (Sheryl) Fore of Oklee.

Joyce married Charles Ruby Acker September 1954. They traveled the western US and Canada where Charles was employed on the pipeline and settled in Boise Idaho in 1960. She moved back to Minnesota permanently in 1969.

After Charles' death Joyce married Eldon Larson of rural St. Hilaire in 1979. They made their home on a farm in rural St. Hilaire, MN.

Joyce worked for 2 years for Northern State Bank in Gonvick, MN before her marriage to Charles Acker. After returning to Minnesota, she worked 11 years for Arctic Enterprises, Inc. as Production Personnel Manager, 8 years for Farm Credit Services as a loan secretary and Agrifax Technician, and 14 ½ years as Office Manager for the Quin County WIC Program in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Joyce's greatest interests were reading, her flowers, and she truly enjoyed her years of working with the public. Her life was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Family was the most important thing in her life.
