Joyce Ness, 91, died on Monday, May 9, 2011 at her sons residence in Montgomery, AL under the care of hospice.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Holt, with Rev. Sheila Michaels officiating. Burial will follow in the Holt Cemetery, Holt, MN.

Visitation will be held 5-7 PM, Friday, May 13, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Joyce Vivian Moberg was born on August 5, 1919 in Mud Lake, MN to Hilmar and Pearl (Simmons) Moberg, the ninth of ten children. She was baptized as a baby and confirmed later as an adult. She grew up and attended school in Holt, MN.

She was united in marriage to Clarence Obert Ness on October 31, 1942 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. The couple farmed near Holt. They moved to Hayfield, MN in 1956 and she worked as a lab tech. They later returned to Holt. She worked various jobs including running a caf in Holt. She managed Valley Dairy in Thief River Falls for some time. After retirement Joyce and Clarence spent several winters traveling to their son Conleys home in Montgomery, AL, moving there in 1995.

She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She and her husband also enjoyed dancing with the Holt Keen Agers and at the Heritage Center in Thief River Falls. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt.

Joyce is survived by her son Conley Ness, Montgomery, AL.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 2008, her parents, 9 siblings, George Moberg, Bertha Moberg, Lydia Babock, Delores Reese, Florence Sannes, Gerald Moberg, Walter Moberg, Olive Lunke, and Clifford Moberg.
