Judith Carlson Red Lake Falls, MN, 73, died Monday October 28, 2013 at Hillcrest Senior Living Center, Red Lake Falls, MN Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN, with Rev. Jonathan Dodson and Pastor Lisa Carlson co-officiating. Burial will follow at the Emardville Cemetery, rural Plummer, MN. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a 5:00 PM prayer service, led by Rev. Frank Ehling, on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Judith Eiline Carlson was born on May 5, 1940 in Richmond, California, the daughter of Roy and Ruth "Eleanor" (Englund) Steitz. She was baptized in California and later confirmed at St. John Lutheran in Red Lake Falls. Judy attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls and furthered her education in college to become an LPN. On February 6, 1959 Judy was united in marriage to Merlin Carlson at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls. They were married 53 wonderful years. Over the years Judy worked as a nurse, at the Northland Foods Bakery, and most importantly - raised their children, Dale, Anita and Roger. Judy liked to spend time gardening, canning, sewing, recipes, playing piano, and singing. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer. Judy is survived by her children, Dale (Lisa) Carlson and Roger (Connie) Carlson; grandchildren, Dan (Kelsey) Carlson, Andrew Carlson, Stefanie (Toby) Kongslie, Bethany (Jordan) LeDune, Alyssa Carlson, and Madison Carlson; great-grandchildren, Olivia Kongslie, Klaire Kongslie, Braden LeDune, and Adalynn LeDune; sisters, Margaret (Frank) Ehling and Cathy (John) Hilley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death is her husband, Merlin; daughter, Anita; brother, Robert Steitz, and her parents.
