Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at the church. Juliet Tourine (Neste) Johnson was born on June 15, 1922 in Mekinock, ND, the daughter of Jule and Thonnie (Lieberg) Neste. She was baptized on July 23, 1923 and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Juliet grew up in the Mekinock area and graduated from Emerado High School and later graduated from cosmetology school in Grand Forks. On November 22, 1943 Juliet was united in marriage to Norman T. Johnson in Mekinock, ND. The couple lived in Gilby, ND before buying a farm in Bray Township in 1948. She spent the next 25 years raising her family of 12. After Norman's death in 1973, Juliet moved to Thief River Falls and worked to support her four youngest children that were still at home. Her first job was at Valley Home. She then worked at the Rex Café and later at Dee's Kitchen. At those locations, she was well known as "The Pie Lady," as she was famous for all of her delicious pies, cookies, donuts, and rolls over those years. Her last job was at the Evergreen Eating Emporium until she retired after 30 years of dedicated work. Juliet was a long time member of Black River Lutheran Church and was active in her circle. Juliet's main focus in her life was her family. She was a dedicated, hard-working mother who always had a smile and a kind word for her children. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent countless hours attending their activities, taking care of them and spoiling them. In her spare time she loved to embroider and everyone in her family has beautiful pillow cases and dish towels that she lovingly created. She loved her flower gardens and vegetable gardens - canning hundreds of jars of produce every summer. In later years when she no longer was gardening, she checked on her children's gardens and was always giving tips for their canning projects. Juliet was a kind, caring, and compassionate person who made many friends over the years. Juliet is survived by her loving children, Theodore "Ted" (Marina) of Las Vegas, NV, Stanley (Kaye) of St. Hilaire, MN, Danny (Bonnie) of East Grand Forks, MN, Gary "Duke" (Sue) of Thief River Falls, MN, Richard "Rick" (Linda) of Glen Rock, WY, Jaye of Ojai, CA, Lenny (Teresa) of Thief River Falls, MN, Judy (Terry) Nelson of Cushing, MN, LouAnn (David) Ellingson of Battle Lake, MN, Fay Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN, and Tammy (Ray) Swick of Thief River Falls, MN; 19 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one due in May!
