Obituary

Justin Keith Brierly suddenly passed away on April 2, 2025, at his residence with his fiancé Cyler Buenconsejo and special friend Christine Johnson in Roseau, Minnesota. He was born on May 27, 1968, in Great Falls, Montana.

Justin attended school at Northrup Elementary and Lincoln High School and was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

He spent a few years living and working in Wisconsin where he met some friends that he continued to stay in touch with after moving back to Minnesota.  He carried his roots with him throughout his life and he has a heart of gold as he would give the shirt off his back to a friend in need.
Justin spent many years as a dedicated over the road truck driver, a profession that suited his love for the open road.  He also drove beet truck and hauled for local farmers in the surrounding area.

He enjoyed traveling on his Harley to ABATE gatherings with many of his friends, or wherever the open road took him.  Justin also thought very highly of his nieces and nephews and would do his best to gather on holidays with his family.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Known for his strong political convictions, he was a staunch Republican who never shied away from sharing his views.

Justin is survived by his mother and dad, Mary and Alan Hyland of Thief River Falls; Father Robert Brierly of Kalispell, Montana; and his fiancé Cyler Buenconsejo. He is also survived by his brother Bret (Debbie) Hyland; sister Rosemary (Steve) Johnson; nephews Bryce Hyland, Anthony Hyland, Brandon Bruggeman, and Ty Johnson—all of Thief River Falls; nieces Paige Langaas of Roseau and Danielle Weckwerth of Moorhead. He leaves behind his special friends Christine Johnson, Leroy Krapohl, and his two beloved feline companions, Boomer and Banger. Many close friends and extended family members will also cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; uncles Mino Contreras and Humberto Contreras; special friends Wayne Delage and Steve Nelson; and many other dear family members and friends.

May Justin's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
