Karen Helen Longtin was born on May 30, 1948 to Carl and Mabel (Christenson) Torkelson in Fosston, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN. She attended school in Trail, Oklee, and Plummer.

Karen was united in marriage to Don Longtin on June 4, 1966 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer. The couple has lived in Plummer where she has raised her family. During that time she worked out at various jobs. She owned and operated the Karens Kitchen in Plummer since 1995.

Karen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed tracking and following the family genealogy. She also enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, and canning. She was a member of the Immanuel Church and the Ladies Aid.

Karen is survived by her husband Don, Plummer, MN; 4 children: Geraldine Toots (Terry) Hunt, Thief River Falls, MN; Lonnie (Michele) Longtin, Plummer, MN; Jodi (Jason) Douville, Twin Valley, MN; Wade (Fianc Angela Johnson) Longtin, Thief River Falls, MN; 7 grandchildren: Cole & Caitlyn Hunt, Kevin, Ashley, Christopher Longtin, Prestin & Tanner Douville, brothers and sisters: Arlean (Gary) Anderson, Red Lake Falls, MN; LeRoy Torkelson, Plummer, MN; Carla (Ralph) Landman, Red Lake Falls, MN; Dianne (Jesse Jr) Casavan, Red Lake Falls, MN; Larry (Susan) Torkelson, Plummer, MN; Carl Torkelson Jr., Plummer, MN; Dean (Joy) Torkelson, Plummer, MN; Dennis (Angela) Torkelson, Bagley, MN; she has one aunt Bernice Torkelson, Oklee, MN: and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Alton and Gerald Torkelson, and one nephew Mark Anderson.

Karen Longtin, 55, died on Monday, May 24, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
