Katherine Travnicek, 84, died Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Warroad Care Center, Warroad, MN.

Katherine Naomi Jacobson was born December 24, 1919 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Hans H. and Jennie Amanda (Berg) Jacobson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938. Katherine entered the Catholic faith in December of 2003.

On August 30, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leo Vincent Travnicek in Thief River Falls, where the couple made their home. She worked for Wards, Woolworths, and Carl Hillard Grocery Store.

She was an avid reader, loved flowers, birds and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Thief River Falls.

Katherine is survived by children, Jennifer (Robert) Hilligoss, Warroad, Patrick (Jean) Travnicek, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Andrea and Heather Travnicek and Jason Hilligoss and Amanda (Scott) King; sisters, Mildred Bakke, Thief River Falls, Lorraine (Steve) Brown, St. Paul, MN, and brother, Kermit (Betty) Eastman, St. Cloud, MN, along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by husband, Leo, August 18, 1992, brothers, Joe Norman and Edwin Jacobson; half brother, Gordon Eastman; sisters, Violette Jacobson, Alice Eastman, Helen Christensen, Margaret Amren and Gladys Erickson.
