Kathryn Katie Walters, 84, died January 1, 2009 at Villa St. Vincent Care Center, Crookston, MN.
Funeral service will be 11 AM, Monday, January 5, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service, Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Denny Bivens officiating. Burial will be at First English Cemetery, Mentor, MN.
Visitation will be 9-11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home, Monday.
Kathryn Katie Burma was born February 16, 1924 at Buffalo Center, IA, the daughter of Jasper and Martha (Schultz) Burma. She attended school at Minnesota Lake, MN graduating in 1943 and lived with her parents until marriage.
On November 4, 1947, Katie was united in marriage to Harold Walters at Wells, MN. The couple farmed at Montgomery, MN. Katie worked at the turkey plant in south Faribault, MN, until 1973, when the couple moved to Mentor, MN, where they farmed. In 1993, they sold that farm and moved north of Mentor. In 2004, they moved to Crookston, MN, where they have since resided.
Katie enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, traveling around the United States and going to rummage sales.
She is survived by husband, Harold, Crookston, MN 6 children: David Walters, Crookston, MN, Virginia (Dennis) Horejsi, Montgomery, MN, Betty (Roman) Jindra, Montgomery, MN, Dennis (Nora) Walters, Mentor, MN, Sally (Cliff) Martell, Detroit Lakes, MN and George (Vicki) Walters, Crookston, MN; 16 grandchildren: Ralph, Brian, Michael, Peggy, Tammy, Keith, Karen, Roxanne, Gerald, Jessica, Kim, Carie, Matthew, Dorothy, Mikayla and Kyle; 25 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Katie was preceded in death by daughter Mary Kimbro; 3 grandsons: Dale, Jack and Bobby; 8 brothers and sisters: Pete, Helmer, martin, Alton and Ben Burma, Lena Hellinga, Bertha Obraske and Ann Winter and a daughter-in-law: Theresa.
