Kay Stromgren, 55 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN with her loving husband at her side.
A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Stromgren residence.
Kay Lynn Hutchinson was born November 18, 1962 in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of James and Sharon (Marciniak) Hutchinson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Kay attended school in Thief River Falls.
After school, Kay traveled with the Armstrong Carnival Shows working mostly in the games and sometimes in the ticket booth.
In the early 1980's, Kay married Larry Richter and to this union two children were born, Mary and Larry Jr. The couple divorced after a couple years of marriage and Kay with her children returned to live in Thief River Falls. Kay worked at Arctic Cat and also drove Taxi after returning home.
In the end of 1993, Kay reconnected with her future husband LeRoy Stromgren and they were married on July 16, 1997. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls.
Kay was an excellent cook and made a career of it. She cooked at various places in Thief River Falls including Carol's Café, Rusty Nail, Main Street Café, and most recently Valley Home.
Kay enjoyed catfishing, camping, spoiling her grandkids and even the many adopted ones, parties, bonfires, road trips, attending the Moondance Jam and listening to music; Kay especially loved spending time with family and close friends. Kay was known to speak her mind, was very outgoing, sociable with the right crowd and a loving wife, mother, grandmother & friend.
She is survived by husband, LeRoy; daughter, Mary Hutchinson; son, Larry Jr. (Ashley) Richter; grandchildren, Aria, Macie and Ryker Richter; father, James Hutchinson all of Thief River Falls; sisters, Janet (Mike) Severson and Carrie (Duane) Baker all of Las Vegas, NV; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother; grandparents, William & Doris Marciniak and Clyde & Beatrice Hutchinson.
