Keith Laverne Grandstrand,79, of Coon Rapids, MN, died on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at his home.

Keith Laverne Grandstrand was born on December 10, 1946, to Melvin and Irene (Lindstrom) Grandstrand. He was born in Warren, MN, and lived in Stephen, MN, before moving to Viking, MN as a young child. He was baptized in Stephen, MN, and later confirmed in Viking, Minnesota. Keith attended Marshall County Central and earned an associate degree at Northland Community College, Thief River Falls, MN. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during, from 1965 to 1967, during the Vietnam War era.

Keith spent much of his working life as a truck driver, including driving cement trucks. He ran his own Tax Services for many years. In the 1970’s and early 1980’s he worked at Arctic Cat Inc-driving truck and later office work. During the late 1980’s he worked as a truck driver in the Oil Fields in North Dakota, before moving to Twin City area. Keith moved to the Twin Cities where he worked in several jobs, retiring in 2008 from Aggregate Industries. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication throughout his career.

In his younger years, Keith enjoyed fishing and cherished time spent outdoors. Keith played football and track at Marshall County Central, and was inducted into the MCC Hall of Fame Class of 2015. He played fast pitch softball at Thief River Falls, MN. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was active in Cowboy Church and was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he valued the friendships and support, he found through the organization.

Keith was previously married to Connie (Hagen) Grandstrand and they had two boys- Jeremy and Jason.

He is survived by his sons, Jeremy (Brenda) Grandstrand and Jason (Darci) Grandstrand; grandchildren, Courtney Grandstrand, Carter Grandstrand, Cooper Grandstrand, Brayden Grandstrand, and Landen Grandstrand; and his sister, Barbara (Ward) Sinn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Irene Grandstrand; grandson, Payton Grandstrand; and brothers, Rodney (Carolyn) Grandstrand and Roy (Dorothy) Grandstrand.

Keith will be remembered for his love of family, his service to his country, and the many relationships he built throughout his life.

Celebration of Life will be 3 PM Friday, July 17, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Services, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 PM Friday, July 17, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Services, Thief River Falls, MN.

Burial will be at a later date.
