Obituary

Keith Pearson, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Graff Officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday. Keith Hokan Ludvig Pearson was born January 18, 1929 son of Oliver and Maud (Peterson) Pearson near Hallock, MN. He attended school at Nylander School District 16, and high school in Hallock, MN and the Northwest School of Agriculture at Crookston, MN, graduating in 1946. Keith worked for the Diamond Farms for a few years then began farming with his father, driving school bus and had several other odd jobs. October 23, 1951 Keith was drafted into the US Army and served during the Korean conflict being stationed in South Carolina, Georgia, Texas and 8 months in Germany. Following his honorable discharge on September 30, 1953 Keith returned to the home farm. On September 4, 1954 Keith was united in marriage to Harriet Hjeldness at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy, MN. The couple built a home on the family farm and to this union three children were born Randall Keith, Gwen Danelle and Todd Mitchell. Keith began his career with the MN State Patrol November 1, 1957 and was stationed in Red Lake Falls, MN, he served the state of MN for 27 years, retiring September 4, 1984. Keith enjoyed hunting, golfing, family vacations, traveling, volunteered at Hillcrest Nursing Home and the food bank, and Bethany Lutheran Church (building crew) and the handyman program. He served on the Red Lake Falls City Council, 60 continuous years with the Red Lake Falls American Legion, the Lion's Club, part-time mail carrier and dispatched for State Patrol dispatcher on maternity leave. Keith is survived by his wife of 60 years Harriet of Red Lake Falls, MN, children Randall (Heather) Pearson of Rochester, MN, Gwen (Rod) Schroeder of Hugo, CO and Todd (Nancy) Pearson of Fosston, MN: grandchildren Kimberly (Jeremy) Young, Nicholas Pearson, Kristin Pearson, Margaret Pearson, Leif Pearson and Reid Pearson: great-grandchildren Merik J. Young and Jazlyn Young. Sisters Marj Everingham and Marilyn Tonkins, along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mitchell and Willard and sisters Jeanne Taylor, Helen Diamond and Carole Gisler. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
