Kenneth Wieland, Crookston, MN formerly of Red Lake Falls, MN, age 91, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Villa St Vincent, Crookston, MN.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend John Bumgardner Officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Cemetery at Wylie, MN near Red Lake Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held Monday 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Kenneth Alton Wieland was born September 27, 1926 in Polk County, Fisher, MN, the son of Walter and Edna (Wagner) Wieland. He attended rural school District 124J, Wylie Township, MN.
He served in the United States Army during World War II from January 29, 1945 until his honorable discharge on November 8, 1946.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Ellen Schultz Weiss on June 27, 1987 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, MN.
He was a farmer and farmed in partnership with his 2 brothers until he retired in 1991. He moved into Red Lake Falls in 1995 and then into Crookston, MN, March 2013.
Kenneth was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, the Church Council, choir, Men's Club, Supervisor on Soil and Water Conservation Board, ASCS County Committee, member Red Lake Falls Flying Club, American Legion Post 22 and VFW member, and served on the Wylie Township Board for many years.
Kenneth is survived by his step-children, Gary (Terry) Weiss, Arlyce (Andy) Derosier, Sherry (Mick) Raymond, Arlan Weiss and Kelly (Randy Proulx); 14 step-grandchildren; 17 step great-grandchildren; brothers, Alvis Wieland, Henry (Marilyn) Wieland, Donald (Audrey) Wieland, Dean (Mae) Wieland; brother-in-law, Arley Schultz; sister-in-law, Mavis Arvidson, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ellen; sister Eleanor Casavan; brothers-in-law, Blackie Casavan and Roger Arvidson; sisters-in-law, Bernice Schuhmacher, Verna Schultz, Pat Schultz, and Irene Schultz; and a step-grandson, Brendan Proulx.
In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Immanuel Cemetery fund or your favorite charity.
