Kenneth Dean "Ken" Jones passed away on April 11, 2025, at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, at the age of 77.
Ken was born on December 21, 1947, in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Grand Hubert Jones and Elizabeth Betty McDaniel. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, enlisting in 1964. He completed four years of active duty and was honorably discharged in December of 1970.
A dedicated veteran and community member, Ken remained deeply involved with fellow service members throughout his life. He was a life member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His leadership roles included serving as Commander, Finance Officer and Second Vice Officer at American Legion Post 4 in Fort Collins, as well as Finance Officer at the district level and Second Vice Officer for the Department of Colorado.
Ken had a passion for working with his hands. He was a skilled painter and carpenter who especially enjoyed woodworking. There was always a project underway, reflecting his creativity and industrious spirit.
Ken is survived by his faithful and caring companion of over 30 years, Karen (Buggs) Berggren of Thief River Falls; two sons, Todd (Ray) Jones and Nick (Dean) Jones; and sisters, Vivian Smith and Elizabeth Farris. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, LeRoy and Vernon Jones.
Ken's legacy lives on through his service, craftsmanship, and enduring dedication to his fellow veterans. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
A Military Graveside Service will be held at the Fargo National Cemetery on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
