Obituary

Kenneth Juhl, 84, died Friday, November 18, 2005 at his home in Middle River, MN.

Funeral service will be 5 PM, Monday, November 21, 2005 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Thomas Bently officiating. Burial will be held at Bowesmont Cemetery at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2005. Bowesmont Cemetery " exit 196 off of I-29 9 miles north of Drayton, ND, then go right ½ mile, right 1 mile, and right ½ mile to get to the cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 at the Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

Kenneth Lewis Juhl was born January 1, 1921 in Drayton, ND, the son of Henry and Christene (Bertelson) Juhl. He was baptized at Drayton, ND. He attended school in Drayton and graduated from Harvey Academy High School in Harvey, ND. Following school he attended college in Loma Linda, CA, receiving his Masters from Seventh Day Adventist in Washington, DC.

Kenneth was united in marriage in 1944 to Dorothy Fisher at Drayton, ND. On September 2, 1988 he married Elaine Bishop-Brockhouse at Luverne, MN. Kenneth taught at Maplewood Academy High School, near Minneapolis, MN, served as preacher in Boise, ID for a time, taught in the Singapore Adventist College, taught in the Adventist High School, Loma Linda, CA including Scottsdale, AZ, where he taught the Bible, English, History and Geography. In 1976, Kenneth retired from teaching and moved to Middle River, MN. He ran the Heritage Boarding Home until 1995, hauled bees to Texas for Robsons and helped his brother, Ray with grain at the mill.

Kenneth was very active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church as pastor and helped build the church in Boise. He liked to garden, work, drive his 18 wheeler, hauling bees, helping with grain for his brother and all activities at the church.

Kenneth is survived by wife, Elaine, Middle River, MN; 2 daughters, Janice Juhl, Middle River, MN; and Pam (Fred) Klein, and their children Sandra and Dana Klein, Boise, Idaho; a great grandchild; 6 step children: Sara (David) Hillestad and their daughter Elizabeth, Everett, WA; Cheryl (Jeff) Wilson, Hartford, SD; Merlyn (Lori) Brockhouse and their children Jeremiah and Lindsey, Baltic, SD; Loren (Peggy) Brockhouse and their children Megan, Grant, and Aspen, St. Charles, IL; Steven Brockhouse, Fargo, ND; Howard Brockhouse and his children Abigail and Isabella, Middle River, MN; 1 sister, Gladys (Hayden) Biloff, Milton, OR; 5 brothers: Ralph (Betty) Juhl, Drayton, ND; Lester (Hilda) Juhl, East Grand Forks, MN; Howard (Darlene) Juhl, Riverside, CA; Wayne (Lindale) Juhl, Greenbush, MN; and Ray (Helen) Juhl, Middle River, MN; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Melvin and Vernon.
