Obituary

Kenneth Manning, 78, of rural Erskine, MN went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his home near Erskine surrounded by his loving family. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Faith Community Church, 1106 17th St. S. Grand Forks, ND with Pastor Joe Atilano Officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church on Sunday. Ken Manning was born March 3, 1935 son of Evert (Ed) and Bridgetta (Habeck) Manning in Gary, MN. He was raised at Green Meadow Township near Gary, MN and was baptized and confirmed at Green Meadow Lutheran Church. He attended school at Gary, MN graduating in 1953. Through his life and marriages, there were 12 children. Ken was a musician who lived and traveled throughout the US and Canada settling in rural Erskine in his golden years. Ken enjoyed music, playing cards, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family but especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandchild. Ken was known as dad and grandpa to a multitude of others outside the family. He is survived by his best friend and companion of many years Gloria Benedick of rural Erskine, MN; children Jeanne (Buddy) Hackett of East Grand Forks, MN, Debbie (Casey) Lieverse of Grand Prairie, Alta CA, Tim Manning of Red Lake Falls, MN, Susan (Rick) Wiseman of Warroad, MN, Bridget (Marlow) Pallum of Nielsville, MN, Tom Manning of St. Cloud, MN, Bobbi Lee (Moses) Mintzer of Clayton, NC, Evert (Sara) Manning of Crookston, MN, Jason (Dava) Manning of Clearlake, WI, Adam (Brittany) Manning of West Fargo, ND and Lynelle Manning of Balsam Lake, WI: 33 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Brothers Eugene (Helen) Manning of Fergus Falls, MN and Duane (Melissa) Manning of Harpers Ferry, WV: many nieces and nephews. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Peggy Sue, great-granddaughter Tamara, sisters Eveline Bennefield, Helen Grieve and Dorothy Meyers, brothers Lawrence (Bud) and Marvin. HONORARY PALLBEARERS: All of Ken's children and grandchildren.
