Obituary

Kevin Leigh Vet Vettleson died Friday, January 22 at the age of 48 after a courageous 11 month battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Oklee High School in Oklee, MN with Pastor Joseph Abrahamson officiating. Burial will follow in Valle Cemetery, Chester Township, Polk County, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.

Kevin was born on December 4, 1961 to Walter & Shirley Vettleson and grew up in rural Trail, MN surrounded by his 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He was baptized and confirmed at Clearwater Lutheran Church. He graduated in 1980 from Oklee High School where he excelled in chorus, football and basketball. Kevin began working for Driscoll Brother Farms in 1982. He was united in marriage to Kim Ellen Lawrenz in 1987 and together they raised the loves of his life, Kyle Dean and Hannah Leigh. Kevin and Kim purchased the farm from Keith & Ray Driscoll in 1992. They gave Kevin the chance and opportunity to live his dream and he never forgot that. Kevin was known as the big guy with a smile. He was a very colorful guy, once you met him you didnt forget him. He loved his land and loved being a farmer and achieved a lot of his goals in his young life. He loved to hunt & fish with his brothers and spend weekends at the lake with friends. He was Kyle & Hannahs biggest fan at their sporting events. He was a huge Vikings and Twins fan. He was on the Chester township board for several years.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 22 years Kim, son Kyle Dean (1988) and Hannah Leigh (1992); mother Shirley Vettleson, Trail, MN; sister Debbie & Jim DuChamp, Plummer,MN; brother Wayne & Debbie Vettleson, Trail, MN; sister Sheila & Terry Horn, Gonvick, MN; brother Mike & Brenda Vettleson, Roseau, MN; sister Lori & Steve Raebel, Oakdale, MN; brother Kim & Rhonda Vettleson, Trail, MN; Father & Mother in-law Dean & Jan Lawrenz, TRF, MN; sister-in-law Chris & Joe Wavra, RLF,MN; 7 nephews, 13 nieces, 6 godchildren, dog Buddy , cat Fat and several cherished & very loved close friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his Dad, Walter.
