Obituary

Krista Marie Suronen Voeller, Rogers, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN perished on Saturday, July 27, 2013, in a one-vehicle automobile accident near Plummer, Minnesota. She was 42 years of age. Krista was born March 10, 1971 and raised in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of James and Yvonne (Manning) Suronen. She is the fourth of their five children. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Krista was a lively, outgoing, vivacious, and caring child growing up. She was a proud "Prowler" graduating from Thief River Falls Lincoln High School in 1989. In high school she was involved in many activities including marching band, where she played saxophone and enjoyed showing dogs in 4-H at a very young age. Her love of animals, especially dogs, continued throughout Krista's life. Krista "Kristi" enrolled at the University of North Dakota in the fall of 1989. She graduated earning a bachelors degree in Business Administration with a major in Information Management in May of 1994. She began her professional career after her junior year at UND as a paid intern in records management at Carlson Companies during the summer of 1993. Following her UND graduation she was selected to be Assistant Corporate Records Manager at Northwest Airline's corporate headquarters in Minneapolis. She was recruited to a records management position with Dain Rauscher (RBC Dain Rauscher) in downtown Minneapolis and held that position until joining Cargill Incorporated in 2003 as a Records Management Analyst. In 2012 she became a consultant for Cohasset Associates and in 2013 she moved to a position in records management with Minnesota Department of Health in St. Paul, MN. Krista learned and adapted quickly, was Treasurer of the Twin Cities Chapter of ARMA- a major professional management association, and achieved several significant career milestones. For many years she was an active volunteer for Helping Paws of Minnesota. She trained one service dog "JD" that is in active service aiding a paraplegic owner. She then trained a second service dog "Lola" as a breeder dog that whelped two litters of puppies to be placed into training to eventually aid disabled individuals. Lola was with Krista in the accident, survived, and stayed by her side until she was found. Krista was unselfishly dedicated to that organization's mission and it's work. On a blind date arranged by her future father-in-law, she connected with Brent James Voeller originally from Grand Forks, ND, and by then living in the Twin Cities. They began a life together that continued until her passing. Their first child, son Tanner James Voeller, was born on July 25, 1998. Their second child, Kyler Marie Voeller, was born on November 19, 2002. Both Kyler and Tanner are blessed with their mother's all-around attractiveness, personality, and intelligence. Krista and Brent were married in Grand Forks, ND, on September 20, 2003. Krista is survived by her husband Brent, son Tanner, and daughter Kyler of Rogers, MN. She is also survived by her mother Yvonne, sister Jan, brothers Doug and Danny of Thief River Falls, and brother Robby (wife Jenifer) of Denver, CO. She is also survived by uncle Duane (wife Dee) Manning, uncle Jerry (wife Beth) Manning, aunt Shirley Porter, aunt Peggy (husband Gary) Clow, uncle Rocky (Becky Harmon) Manning, aunt Verna Sevre, aunt Carol Suronen, uncle Harvey Suronen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by uncle James (wife Connie) Voeller, uncle Jerry (wife Denise) Voeller, step-uncle Tom (wife Kathy) Langemo, and several nieces, nephew, cousins and many friends. Krista is preceded in death by her father, James Suronen on July 24, 2000; grandparents, Bud and Thelma Manning, uncles & aunts Robert "Butch" Manning, Elmer, Mel, George, Walter, Ernie and Albert Suronen, Trudy Kersten, Shirley Hanson, and Alyce Sundholm. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Her funeral is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 1st, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Golv and Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN immediately following the funeral service. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Krista's life and legacy at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, MN at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 2, 2013.
