LaMarr Hanson Sr., 79, died Saturday, December 25, 2004 at CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN

LaMarr W. Hanson was born March 2, 1925 at Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Arthur and Clara (Mosbeck) Hanson. He grew up and attended Northrup Elementary School, Central Junior High School and graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, MN in 1943. He joined the United States Navy in 1943, during World War II and served honorably for four years, earning the rank of Corpsman, E-4. After his military service, LaMarr went on to work for the Soo Line Railroad in Thief River Falls for 40 years until his retirement in 1986.

In 1954, LaMarr was united in marriage to Dixie Gullikson and they were blessed with seven children.

He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, visiting his daughter Nancy, bike riding and taking walks with his dogs through the years. He also loved sports, especially football, hockey and baseball and could be seen at many Prowler and Little League games watching his children and grandchildren play. Only God can fill the hole that our father, our grandfather, our brother and our friend has left.

Survived by children Thomas J. Hanson, Waukegan, IL and LaMarr Hanson II, Thief River Falls, MN, Nita Young, North Bend, OR, Nicole Olson, St. Hilaire, MN , Nancy Hanson, Red Lake Falls, MN and Michele Hanson, Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Nachele, Benjamin and Nicholas Olson, Samantha and Cole Young,; brother, Keith (Nettie), Bloomington, IL; nephew Eric and niece Gretta.

Preceded in death by wife, Dixie, son, Robert Charles Hanson and parents.
