Larry Lee Conely 70, of Thief River Falls, MN died on Monday, July 1, 2013 in Thief River Falls, MN. Per Larry's request no services will be held. Larry Lee Conely was born in Thief River Falls, MN December 31, 1942 son of Pat and Della (Monroe) Conely. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He grew up near St. Hilaire where he attended grade school and later attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls graduating in 1960. Following his graduation he joined the US Navy serving mostly on the destroyer "USS Allen M. Sumner". When his enlistment was up he returned home and began work at Detroiter Mobile Home in Red Lake Falls for three years. In 1966 he re-enlisted in the Navy for an additional two years serving mostly on the aircraft carrier "USS Bennington". Following his honorable discharge he returned to Thief River Falls and went back to work at Detroiter Mobile Home and also worked winter jobs in various locations. In later years his enjoyment was walking around town. Logging in 4 - 6 miles a day winter or summer. Larry always looked forward to attending the yearly navy ship "Sumner" reunions at different US locations. He had heart trouble for many years and many surgeries' to treat his failing eye sight. When faced with advanced lung cancer which had spread to his shoulder bone he ended it on his own terms. Larry is survived by his sister Sally (Craig) Torkelson of Thief River Falls, MN; nephews Brett (Danita) Torkelson and their children Blake and Kora of St. Hilaire, MN, Darren (Cassandra) Torkelson and daughter Lydia of Thief River Falls, MN along with Aunts and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
