Larry Hagman, 62, of Thief River Falls, MN died on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 while visiting his daughter April at her home in Fridley, MN.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Thief River Falls, MN with Jerome Quimby officiating. A reception will follow at the Imperial Room at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
Larry Eugene Hagman was born on December 6, 1948 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Emil and Katherine (Appelman) Hagman. He attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1967. Larry attended Technical College where he studied Accounting.
In 1968, Larry entered into service with the United States Navy. He served in Hawaii, Japan, Philippines and throughout the south Pacific. He was Honorably Discharged in 1972 and following his discharge, Larry returned to Thief River Falls.
On May 12, 1973 Larry was united in marriage to Grace McAdams in Thief River Falls and to this union a daughter April was born. They were married for 33 years.
On September 18, 1977, Larry was baptized as one of Jehovahs Witnesses. He was an ordained minister and enjoyed helping people and teaching people about the bible.
Whether he was in his community, with his family or at the Kingdom Hall, Larry enjoyed life and people; he loved spending time with his family and friends, playing cards and a good practical joke. No one felt safe sleeping if they knew he was around. Larry made it his mission to wake people up in the funniest way possible. Larry never had any grandchildren, but was a grandfather to many.
Larry enjoyed sporting events, camping, fishing trips, family reunions, concerts and traveling.
Over the years, Larry worked at Red Owl, Northland Foods, Hartz Foods Warehouse all in Thief River Falls; Value Plus in Oceanside, CA; and Hugos in Thief River Falls where he retired in 2010.
Survivors include his daughter, April (Kirk) Tormanen of Fridley, MN; brothers and sisters, Hazel (Donald) Erickson of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Violet (Gary) Engstrom of Thief River Falls, Rosie (Curtis) Westlin of Thief River Falls, Roger (Nancy) Hagman of Bemidji, MN, Duane (Theresa) Hagman of Thief River Falls, Kenny (Lesa) Hagman of Thief River Falls; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
