Larry W. Peterson of Thief River Falls, MN,72, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Larry Wayne Peterson was born on May 28, 1942 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Melford and Doris (Sevre) Peterson. He attended elementary school in St. Hilaire, MN, and graduated from high school in Thief River Falls. Following high school Larry enlisted with the United States Army. He served his country for two years overseas in Vietnam. Larry was honorably discharged in 1966. He was united in marriage to Diane Erickson. Together they had a son, Terry Wayne. On August 11, 1981 Larry was united in marriage to Ruth Swanson. They made their home in St. Hilaire and together raised Ruth's daughter, Tawnya. Larry started work at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls in 1966 and retired from there in 2007. Larry enjoyed working in his garden and with his yard and running after his grandkids. Larry is survived by his wife Ruth of St. Hilaire, MN; children Terry Peterson of East Grand Forks, MN, and Tawnya (Brent) Stroot of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren Tiffany Stroot of Gillette, WY, Austin Stroot of Fertile, MN, Jacob Peterson of Hastings, MN, and Jessica Stroot of Thief River Falls, MN; great-grandchildren Melaina Stroot and Kimberly Holter; brother Gary (Darlene) Peterson of Rochester, MN; brother-in-law Buddy Cameron of Thief River Falls, MN and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father and mother; his sister Sharon Cameron and several aunts and uncles.
