Obituary

Larry Rahn, 66, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, as a result of a car accident near Lancaster, MN. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Jeff Gauss officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be 2-5 PM, Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 4:00 PM. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Larry Wayne Rahn was born April 24, 1945 son of Willard Peter and Esther Irene (Radtke) Rahn at Mountain Lake, MN. He was baptized at Bethel Mennonite Church May 21, 1961. He attended Mt. Lake Public School and the AVTI in Thief River Falls where he received a degree in auto body and accounting. Larry entered the US Army November 19, 1965, served his country in Vietnam and was honorable discharged on November 18, 1971. On September 6, 1969 Larry was united in marriage to Barbara Bendel. Years later, Larry was united in marriage to Barb Ness on July 29, 2011. Larry was self-employed auto body and auto mechanics shop. He worked for the city of Thief River Falls, MN for 21 years retiring in 2010. Since his retirement he has been employed by Auto Value in Thief River Falls. Larry raised and showed horses, played golf, enjoyed hunting, fishing and wildlife. Larry loved spending time with Barb, family and his good friends. He was a member of the Lions and enjoyed his military reunions every year. Larry is survived by his wife Barbara of Thief River Falls, MN; daughter Lisa (Glade)Platts of Ketchum, ID, step daughter Shana Johnson (special friend Joe Ramsey); grandchildren Megan Platts and step grandchildren Trevor and Kiarra Johnson. His Mother Esther Redekop of Mountain Lake, MN; sister Delphe (Khaled) Othman of Riverside, CA and Roger (Carla) Rahn of Mountain Lake, MN. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Rahn, son Wayne Rahn, Father Willard Rahn and step father Jacob Redekop.
