Obituary

Laura Perreault Gervais, age 94 Red Lake Falls, Minnesota died Friday October 17, 2014 at Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks, ND, with her loving family at her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN with Father Vincent Miller presiding and Deacon Denny Bivens. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will also be from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church. Laura Marie Perreault was born on February 5, 1920 at Terrebonne, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Aurora (Cardinal) Perreault. She grew up and attended country school in Terrebonne. Laura worked for many neighbors doing child care and housework. During WWII, Laura worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. She was united in marriage to Norman W. Gervais on April 9, 1945 in Gentilly, Minnesota. They made their home on a farm in rural Red Lake Falls, where they raised their seven children. In this union, she was a homemaker and devoted mother. She enjoyed working on the farm where she gardened, milked cows and raised chickens. She also always made lunches to bring to the men working in the fields. In the later years she worked as a cook at Marcoux Corner and Roberts Restraunt in Crookston. Laura sold Fuller Brush for many years, going around the neighborhood making sales and building many friendships. Norman passed away in December 12, 1981, which is when Laura started to snowbird to Arizona. She would spend winters in Apache Junction with many of her brothers and sisters they would enjoy making a trip or two to Laughlin or Las Vegas for a little gambling fun. Laura eventually sold the farm and moved in to Red Lake Falls. Living in her house there for several years and later moving into Sun view Manor where she would spend many afternoons and evenings playing cards. Over the years she was a member of St.Peters Church in Gentilly and St. Joseph Church in Red Lake Falls. She was a member in the St. Ann Sodality and Catholic Daughters. Laura moved to Valley Elder Care Center in September 2013. She made many more new friends there and enjoyed all the activities and played lots of cards. Laura is survived by 6 children, Joyce Goats (Alan) of Boaz, AL; Russell (Carolina) Gervais, Red Lake Falls; Kenny Gervais (Deb) Thief River Falls; Myrna (Jerry) Flint East Grand Forks; Lester (Karen) Gervais Red Lake Falls; and Gayla (Dan) Miller Mentor. Ten grandchildren; Scott, Brian, Erica, Nicolette, Kenneth, Benjamin, Jenny, Mistie, Kristen and Lynsey. Eleven great-grandchildren; Zachery, Addyson, Tori, Avery, Brody, Mia, Zoey, Taylr, Elijah, Claire and Blake. Brother Leonard (Lenore) Perreault Grand Rapids, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman, daughter Mary Lou, grandsons Michael and Jason. Parents Joseph and Aurora Perreault, siblings Paul Perreault, Maurice Perreault, Lorraine Langlois, Alma Mornville, Eva Perreault, Fred Perreault, Louis Perreault and Jeanette Caillier. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, CNA's and activities staff who took great care of our mother for the past year she lived at Valley Elder Care.
