Obituary

Lauria Neys passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN, at the age of 96. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks, MN, with Father Bill DeCrans officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Brooks, MN. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks. Lauria Marie Desautel was born January 21, 1918 in Brooks, MN, the daughter of Louis and Albina (Robidoux) Desautel. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brooks. She attended Elementary School in Brooks and High School in Plummer. Following High School Lauria worked in Minneapolis, MN for four years. On October 28, 1948, Lauria was united in marriage to Joseph Neys at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brooks, MN. The couple purchased a farm in Badger Township, Polk County, MN and farmed for 53 years. They moved into Brooks, MN in 1998. In 2006 she moved into Country Place in Erskine and in 2013 to Pioneer Memorial Care Center. Lauria enjoyed being a Homemaker and raising their family. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, crocheting, embroidering, painting, quilting, gardening, canning, and putting puzzles together. She loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: George (Marlene) Neys, Warren, MN, Anna Mae (Gary) Davis, Golden, CO, Mary (Harry) Larson, Hibbing, MN, Carol (Jeff Klaven) Neys, Crookston, MN and Bonita (Jerry) Shaver, McIntosh, MN; son-in-law, Father Bill DeCrans of Red Lake Falls, MN; 13 grandchildren: Renae (Jason) Bookman of Anchorage, AK and Lori Neys of St. Paul, MN, Patrick (Raechel) Davis of Lakewood, CO and Amber (Eric) Buesser of Byers, CO, Angela DeCrans of Moorhead, MN and Nicholas (Tara Pilch) DeCrans of Minot, ND, Alex (Kelly Soto) Shaver of Williston, ND, Jennie, Adam and Cole Shaver of McIntosh, MN, and Nissa (Luke Lappi) Larson of Hibbing, MN, Elizabeth Larson of Hibbing, MN, and Timothy (Amee) Templin-Larson of Aurora, IL; 8 great-grandchildren and brother, Narcisse Desautel of Lewiston, ID. Lauria was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; infant son, Joseph Jr.; one daughter, Kathy DeCrans; and one granddaughter, Helen DeCrans; sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Emmit Morinville.
