LaVern L.W. Larson, 67 of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Thursday, June 24, 1999 at Hillcrest Nursing Home of Cancer in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 1999 at 11:00 AM in Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday at the Petterson Funeral Home from 5 " 8 PM with a 7:30 prayer service with Reverend Gary Graff Officiating. And also on Tuesday one hour prior to services at the Funeral Home.
LaVern L.W. Larson AKCM U.S. Navy Retired was born January 18, 1932 in Thief River Falls son of Harold Joe and Gladys (Hovland) Larson where he was raised and attended Lincoln High School. L.W. entered the Army Airforce in 1948 and later entered the US Navy serving his country for 22 years retiring in 1969. While in the service he served in Japan, China, Vietnam, Korea and the Philippines where he was an aviation instructor and aviation store keeper. He was united in marriage to Irene Wysoski on July 2, 1960 in Red Lake Falls, MN. L.W. was the administrator at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls from 1969 until 1972 and from 1972 until his retirement in 1989 was the administrator at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.
He enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing and playing cards. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, American Legion where he was past commander, Adjutant and Finance Officer for several years, 40 ET 8 where he was Chef de Gare and MAHA.
L.W. is survived by his wife Irene Larson of Red lake falls, MN: son David (Bernadette) Larson of Warroad, MN and daughter Diane (Douglas) Roob of Sartell MN: four grandchildren Joseph and Annette Larson and Justin and Jordan Roob. Brothers and sisters Joanne (Roy) Landmann of Isanti, MN; Deanna Larson of Thief River Falls, MN; Dennis Larson of Eagle, WI; Janie Hipsher of Fisher, MN and Edward Larson of Thief River Falls, MN: several nieces and nephews.
His parents, an infant daughter and an infant grandchild precede him in death.
