Obituary

LaVerne Nyflot, 78, died on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Moorhead Health Care Center in Moorhead, MN.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor David Riveness officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at Johnson Funeral Service.

LaVerne Marie Opland was born on April 1, 1927 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Conrad and Anna (Ose) Opland. She was baptized on May 22, 1927 and also confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1945. Following High School she attended and graduated from Augsburg College in 1949.

LaVerne was united in marriage to Oscar Nyflot on June 20, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. She taught English in Strandquist and Lake Bronson, was organizer of the Kittson County DAC in Lake Bronson and was the Director from 1971 until her retirement in 2002.

LaVerne and Oscar lived in Lake Bronson until 1991, when they moved to Thief River Falls. LaVerne continued to drive to Lake Bronson for work at the DAC until her retirement. LaVerne always loved her work with her clients at the DAC.

She was a member of the Community Covenant Church in Lake Bronson and was very active in all aspects of the church. She later transferred membership to Resurrection Community Church in Karlstad, where she and Oscar were Charter Members.

LaVerne is survived by her husband, Oscar of Karlstad, MN; one daughter, Cindy Nyflot of Fargo, ND; one son, Jeff (Carla) Nyflot, grandson, Dallas and granddaughter, Kimberly, all of Karlstad, MN; daughter-in-law, Jan Nyflot of Thief River Falls, MN; two sisters, Irene Sollid of Apple Valley, MN and Emerald DeBoer of Apple Valley, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Lonnie Nyflot on December 13, 2004; her parents.
