LaVerne Rondorf, 87, died on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at the Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Mark Kukkonen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 on Monday, June 12, 2006 at the Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

LaVerne Laurel Rondorf was born on January 9, 1919 in Rocksbury Township, Pennington County, MN to William and Marie (Anton) Rondorf. He attended country school at District 54 in Rocksbury Township. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. He served his country in the US Army during WW II for 49 months. He attended basic training at Fort Leonardwood, then stationed in the Hawaiian Islands before being sent to Okinawa and Saipan. He was honorably discharged at Camp McCoy, WI. He returned to Thief River Falls, MN and was united in marriage to Olive Louise Jorde on June 26, 1946 at the Trinity Parsonage in Thief River Falls. He dairy farmed in Excel Township for 22 years. LaVerne worked at the Turkey Hatchery for 15 years. He also worked as the janitor at Trinity Lutheran Church for 5 years. The couple continued living on their farm until 1996 when they made their home at Valley Home in Thief River Falls. LaVerne moved to Oakland Park in 2000.

LaVerne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion of Thief River Falls, MN; former member of the VFW in Thief River Falls, and served on the Excel Township Board for 23 years as a supervisor.

LaVerne is survived by his wife Olive, Thief River Falls, MN; son Donald (Pam), Seward, NE; daughter Barbara (William) Pon, Norfolk, VA; 3 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers Eugene (Edna), St. Hilaire, MN; Leonard, St. Hilaire, MN; Alvin (Mildred), St. Hilaire, MN; William Bill (Burnelle), Thief River Falls, MN; Rallie (Kathy), Minneapolis, MN; sisters Beverly (Milford) Baker, Valiant, OK; Ardellis (Marvin) Hempel, Portland, OR; Delores Gulley, Forest Grove, OR; Sylvia (Charles) Wilcoxson, Little Rock, AR; Millicent (Allan) Paulson, Thief River Falls, MN and several nieces and nephews.

LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Marzella Jorde, Blanche Goethe
