Leah Thompson of Thief River Falls, MN died on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Oakland Park Nursing home surrounded by her loving family. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 6:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls with Chaplain Janna Kontz officiating Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday. Leah Rose Thompson was born March 24, 1934 daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Hagl) Loeffler at Plummer, MN. As a small child the family moved to a farm near Thief River Falls where she attended school at St. Bernard's Catholic School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952. She married Henry Thompson Dec. 29, 1954 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. Henry was a career soldier, the couple lived in various states including the Panama Canal Zone and Europe for a number of years. They retired to Thief River Falls, MN in 1968. Leah was a homemaker who also worked as an Avon Representative, singer sewing store clerk and a census enumerator. Leah loved to read, enjoyed sewing especially making quilts and working in her yard. She was a volunteer at Northwest Hospital, Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed visiting the elderly in the nursing homes. Henry and Leah both enjoyed the outdoors, spent much time camping and hiking in Beltrami Forrest and Zippel Bay picking Blueberries. She continued to travel even after Henry passed away. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Cooties, and Northwest Auxiliary. Leah is survived by her children; Susan (Jack) Hageman of Loveland, CO; Larry (Kareen) Thompson of Loveland, Co; Jerry (Lisa) Thompson of Thief River Falls, MN; Glenn Thompson of Loveland, CO; Kathi (Rick) Petersen of Chanhassen, MN: Grandchildren Jack (Fiancé Marjorie Gillian) Hageman, Shannon (Darby) Hageman, Kristofer (Alyssa) Hageman, Andrew Thompson, Kristin Thompson, Michael Thompson, Grace Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Nicole Thompson, Lindsay (Chris)Hennek, Tom (Whitney) Stenvik, Amber Harry, Luke Petersen and Sarah Petersen: Great-grandchildren twins Korah and Kyha Hageman, Stiles Hennek, Amelia Stenvik. Dorian Hayes, Irie Petersen, Maddie Aberle, Maisy Aberle and Isaac Petersen: brother Elgin Loeffler of Thief River Falls, MN and sister Lucille (George) Simenson of Thief River Falls, MN along with several nieces and nephews Brothers-in-law Loyal (Nicky) Thompson of and Waldo (Beverly)Thompson and sister-in-law Adeline Loeffler. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry Thompson, grandchild Amanda Thompson, daughter-in-law Becky Thompson, sisters Lorraine Stodola and Lois Thompson and brothers Bernard Loeffler and Francis Loeffler.
