Lee Gehrls of Callaway, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN age 50 died on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his residence. Memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will be held at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:00 PM prayer service on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Lee Mark Gehrls was born on September 23, 1963 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Alan and Joyce (Whalen) Gehrls. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Lee attended Knox Elementary, Franklin Middle School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1982. Lee worked at Big A Auto Parts and Firestone while living in Thief River Falls. He then moved to Warroad, MN where he worked at Marvin Windows. Lee then attended the AVTI in Alexandria, MN for Auto Mechanics and then went to work at Bill Schwartz Ford and Cheney's Auto Repair Shop in Detroit Lakes, MN. While living in Detroit Lakes, Lee was united in marriage to Pat and they made their home in rural Callaway, MN. He worked as a contract mechanic at Jeff's Standard in Callaway until the time of his death. Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR races, hanging out with his friends, electronic BINGO, he was always good to everybody's kids, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Pat, her children, Scott, Lee & Lisa, and Lisa's daughter, Ariel; father, Alan (Joan) Gehrls of Karlstad, MN; step-father, Jerry Johnson; siblings, Joni (Terry) Brandon, Carol (Bill) Sanner, Paul (Barb) Gehrls all of Thief River Falls, MN and Dustin Gehrls of Stephen, MN; several nieces and nephews, Troy, Jenny, Chris, Chassity (Danny), Kyle (Hannah), Alicia, Breanna (fiancé, Kolt), Brandon and Austin; several great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Johnson; grandparents, Hugo & Lorraine Gehrls and George & Esther Whalen; two aunts; one uncle; two cousins.
