Obituary

Lee Walseth Thief River Falls, MN age 65, died peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be held at the Community Cemetery in St. Hilaire, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Lee L. Walseth was born on November 21, 1949 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Harold and Gladys (Skallet) Walseth. He was baptized at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire, MN and confirmed at Silver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls. Lee attended elementary school in St. Hilaire, graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in the class of 1967, and attended Northland College after high school graduation, graduating in 1969 with an Associate of Arts Degree. Lee entered into service in the United States Navy in 1971. He was based out of Corpus Christi, TX and while stationed there, Lee met his future wife, Hollie Baker. Lee and family returned to Thief River Falls in 1975 and together they raised their children, Callie, Vernon and Christopher. Following his return to Thief River Falls, Lee attended Bemidji State University for one year. Lee worked as the office manager for Shumway Oil in Thief River Falls for 13 years. Then Lee went to work for Walseth Construction where he worked until his health issues forced him to retire. He enjoyed playing softball, reading, gardening, grilling, singing and listening to music, camping, his pets and spending time with his family. Lee was always available to help his kids and grandkids with any projects. Lee was very intelligent and quick witted just like his father, Harold. He was also known locally as the "King of Trivia." Survivors include his best friend of 43 years, Hollie of Thief River Falls; children, Callie (Keith) Melvie of Thief River Falls, Vernon Walseth of Marshall, MN, Christopher Walseth of Thief River Falls, Troy Hokanson of Lakeville, MN; grandchildren, Shayne, Josie, Eli, Chase, Kayla, Trinity, Summer, August; great-grandchildren, Brenden, Jordyn, Reuben, Gillian, CJ, Odin, Connor and Lillian; siblings, Marie (George) Owens of Warren, MN, Roy (Barbara) Walseth of Sheridan, WY, Al (Eileen) Walseth, Eddie (Mary) Walseth, Wally (Mary) Walseth, Karen (Roger) Hruby, Lyle (Arlene) Walseth, Scott Walseth, Chickie (Gary) Peterson all of Thief River Falls; brother-in-law, Paul O'Gorman of Minnetonka, MN; sister-in-law, Nita (Jim) Fisher of Thief River Falls; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jane O'Gorman; brother, Vernon; and granddaughter, Autumn Walseth.
