Leland Bud Enge, 82, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Monsignor Timothy McGee presiding. Burial will be in St. Bernards Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service on Friday evening. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Leland Duane Bud Enge was born on April 27, 1926 in Oslo, MN, the son of Anton and Selma (Young) Enge. He was baptized and confirmed at Big Woods Lutheran Church and attended school in Oslo, MN, graduating from Oslo High School in 1943, at age 17. Bud entered the United States Navy on December 3, 1943, serving in World War II. He was Honorably Discharged on April 27, 1947. Bud worked at Big Woods Oil, with his brother, Wallace. He moved to Thief River Falls in 1949 and worked at Western Huskies Oil.

Bud was united in marriage to Dorene Ella Fournier on March 6, 1951 and the couple lived in Thief River Falls. Together the couple raised four children. In 1952, he started working for the city of Thief River Falls. Bud worked for 10 years at the water plant and 28 years as Supervisor of waste water, retiring in 1990. During his career, Bud was involved with the Minnesota Waste Water Association and served as its president.

Bud started his golfing career shortly before his retirement. He was one of the founding members of the Dew Sweepers . He was an active member of St. Bernards Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir, was a reader, and an Eucharistic Minister. He was also active the American Legion, V.F.W, Golden Pioneers, and Knights of Columbus. Bud enjoyed golfing and loved spending time with his family and friends, going to Prowler hockey games and watching his grandchildren play.

Bud is survived by his wife, Dorene of Thief River Falls, MN; four children: Mark (Linnae) Enge of Thief River Falls, MN, Bob (Diane) Enge of Minneapolis, MN, Jim (Beth) Enge of Minneapolis, MN and Mary Ziemann of Eau Claire, WI; eight grandchildren: Aaron (Allie) Enge, Amy (Steve) Olson, Casey Enge, Katherine Enge, Danica Enge, Luke Enge, Zach Ziemann and Ben Ziemann; five great grandchildren: Hannah and Nolan Enge and Abe, Annie and Ike Olson; one brother, Roger (Mary Ann) Enge of Grand Forks, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wallace.
