Obituary

Lenore Lillian Seeger, went to heaven at the age of 88, on October 12, 2017, surrounded by family at Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, MN.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., St. Joseph Catholic Church,  112 Edwards Ave SW, Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Lenore was the only child of Walter and Frances "Sweetie Pie" Torgerson  and was born on December 2, 1928, near St. Paul.  She was doted on by her aunt Violet and "Little Grandma" Annie Torgerson.  She was baptized and confirmed on March 29, 1942, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.  Lenore received honors at Mechanic Arts High School , class of 1946 ;  she participated in Student Council, Yearbook, Quill and Scroll, and Drama.

Lenore and Richard Phillip Seeger were joined in the sacrament of marriage on September 30, 1950, at the Cathedral of St. Paul.  She quickly joined the successful Seeger family floral business, answering the phone and taking orders for holidays, weddings and funerals.  Lenore spent many nights making hundreds of bows for the next day's business.  Seeger's Dale St. Greenhouse was St. Paul's oldest greenhouse, operating in the same location since 1896, and Lenore claimed, "It was built when Paul Revere rode by!"  She and her family were members of St. Agnes parish for decades, and her children attended school at St. Agnes from kindergarten through high school.  The dear friends of a multiple couple group became their closest friends and provided years of social and family connections.  Lenore also managed charitable games at Pot O' Gold Bingo, Arden Hills, MN with proceeds improving the quality of life for St. Paul-Ramsey Nursing Home residents.

Summers were spent at Borde Du Lac Lodge and later the Shores of Leech Lake Campground and Marina near Walker, MN.  Lenore attracted people and before long had a Happy Hour Group specializing in taking care of and treasuring one another.  Lenore and Richard also joined St. Agnes Parish in Walker.  Lenore and Richard could frequently be found fishing all day aboard Cranberry ( their boat) in Walker Bay, at Goose Island, or in Sucker Bay.  Lenore was an excellent and tireless fisherwoman of Leech Lake.

Leisureville in Boynton Beach, FL, became home after retirement in the early 1990s.  Lenore was a parishioner at St. Mark's Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and President of the Council of Catholic Women, heading many social ministries.  If there today, she would be selling tickets after Mass for the Annual International Festival.  Her many Florida friends have passed on, and chances are Lenore is supervising a heavenly gathering and delegating tasks.

After Richard experienced an accidental fall in Florida, the couple moved into their son Richard's home in Red Lake Falls, MN to be helped by family.  Lenore feared they lost their paradise but in fact found a new "small-town paradise" with close family, parish and community connections.  She joined St. Joseph Catholic Church and became a member of Court St. Cecelia, Catholic Daughters of the Americas.  Sunview Senior Center provided a new, all-inclusive location for independent living, warm friendships, and support.  With daughter, Liz, close by and son, David, handling the finances from Texas, life smoothed out once again.  Quiet holidays in Florida turned into RLF hullabaloos.  She inspired her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her verbal wit, humor, and engaging conversations.  After a few years, Richard and Lenore moved into Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN, where her claim to fame was being the "Cross-word Puzzle Queen."

At the Villa, Richard and Lenore shared their floral skills by helping create a Rose Rosary for a Mass at the Shrine of the Virgin Mary in Huot, MN.  These two love birds were declared the Valentine's Couple of the Year due to their mutual support and deep love for each other.  Surrounded by great-grandchildren galore, they recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary with a country barbecue.  They reminisced about their cruises to seven cultural capitals of Europe, Scandinavia and Russia, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Caribbean.   Richard and Lenore made their room at Villa St. Vincent their home with many compassionate helping hands and frequent family visits from their daughter and her family from Winnipeg, and other close family members from Red Lake Falls, Crookston, and Grand Forks, ND.

Lenore is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Frances Torgerson;  her aunt, Violet Runnberg; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Lillian Seeger; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Thomas Seeger, Gerald and Charlotte Seeger, Elizabeth and Wilfred Seeger, Rosemary and Oliver Gross .
